Sinn Fein's Anderson calls for release of Ahed Tamini

Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson has called for the immediate release of Palestinian teenager Ahed Tamini who is currently imprisoned by the Israelis. 

Speaking at a public calling organised by Sinn Féin Republican Youth in Derry on Saturday, Martina Anderson said: 

"Ahed Tamimi is a child of 16 years of age and she is imprisoned along with hundreds and hundreds of other children in Palestine. 

"Her continued detention and imprisonment is wrong and she should be released immediately. 

"International human rights abuse is the hallmark of what the Israelis have been doing for many, many years against the Palestinian people. 

"It's important that we continue to show international solidarity with the Palestinian people. 

"There must be an end to be abuse of international law, the Israeli state have been able to act with impunity, whilst the European Union and others in the international community have stood idly by. This is not acceptable. 

"The international community now need to challenge Israel to ensure the release of Ahed Tamini and other children imprisoned by the Israelis."
