The Education Committee is holding a session on the integrity of
public examinations in both the independent and state sectors as
part of its role scrutinising the work of Ofqual. Witnesses
include representatives from the Independent Schools Council,
Eton College, Cambridge Assessment International Education, and
the Department for Education at Oxford University.
Members will question a representative from Ofqual, which
regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in
England, as well as witnesses representing exam boards and
independent schools.
The session is intended to examine the general issue of exam
integrity and will be a chance for members to ask about the
review of exam setting processes, which was launched by Ofqual in
August.
The review is examining the rules regarding teachers taking part
in setting papers and the safeguards in place to prevent the
disclosure of confidential information.
There will also be the opportunity to question witnesses on
reported incidents of malpractice in independent schools.
