The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
Committee continues its Brexit inquiry with a
session on the aerospace industry at 10am on
Tuesday. This session is likely to examine the impact
Brexit on the aerospace, in terms of manufacturing, jobs and
regulation.
The evidence session on Tuesday will consider how different
scenarios relating to future customs and trading arrangements
might affect the industry in the UK and consider what the
Government should be seeking to achieve in negotiations.
Witnesses include Simon Henley, President-Elect, Royal
Aeronautical Society, Katherine Bennett, Senior Vice President,
Airbus UK, and Paul Everitt, Chief Executive, ADS Group.
Ahead of the evidence session, MP, Chair of the Business,
Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee, said:
“Aerospace is an international business. In design, manufacture
and regulation, the UK aerospace industry benefits and relies
upon European integration. As a Committee, we will want to
explore what type of Brexit deal is in the interests of the
aerospace industry and what the consequences of a no deal would
be for this sector. In seeking to negotiate a Brexit deal that is
in the national interest, the Government must ensure the
country’s key industries, including aerospace, are in a position
to prosper in our new relationship with the EU.”
