Government appointments

• On September 28 Rona (now Baroness) Fairhead was appointed (unpaid) Minister for International Trade following the departure from Government of Lord Price
• Sir Theodore (now Lord) Agnew was appointed junior Minister for Education on the departure of Lord Nash

Shadow government

• Dawn Butler was appointed Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities on August 31

Special advisers

• Ex-deputy chief whip Sir John Randall has been hired by the PM to be her new special adviser on the environment
• Defeated Battersea MP Jane Ellison was appointed a senior Treasury advisor
• Michael Gove has hired Portland associate director James Starkie as a special adviser

Retirements from the House of Lords

• Lord Lloyd-Webber retired on October 17
• Baroness Trumpington retired on October 24

Civil Servants

• Oliver Robbins was appointed as the Prime Minister's EU Adviser
• He was replaced as Permanent Secretary at the Department for Exiting the EU by Philip Rycroft, currently Second Permanent Secretary
• Matthew Rycroft, currently UK Permanent Representative to the United Nations, has been appointed Permanent Secretary at the Department for International Development
• Professor Jonathan Van-Tam has been appointed as the new Deputy Chief Medical Officer for England
• Kristen McLeod will take up the post of Director of the Office for Life Sciences from 13 November in place of Dr Nicole Mather
