CFI is coordinating a delegation to Israel next week for six
Conservative Members of the Welsh Assembly, in the first visit of
its kind.
Many of the delegates will be visiting Israel for the first time,
and will be joined by senior Welsh Conservatives, including the
Director of the Conservative Party in Wales.
The itinerary features a series of high-level meetings with
Israeli government representatives, politicians, journalists and
academics, as well as strategic briefings with the Israel Defense
Forces (IDF) on Israel’s northern borders with Lebanon and Syria.
New additions to the itinerary include a visit to The Floor, the
first FinTech hub of its sort in Israel. The group will also meet
with businesspeople from the Israel-Britain Chamber of Commerce,
and visit a Palestinian high-tech start-up in Ramallah.
Delegates will meet with senior Palestinian Authority
representatives in the West Bank, and visit the first
Palestinian-planned city in Rawabi.
The group will also visit Save a Child’s Heart in Holon, an
Israeli NGO that provides life-saving heart surgery for children
from the Palestinian Territories and developing countries across
the world.
CFI Executive Director James Gurd:
“I am delighted that CFI is coordinating the first ever
delegation to Israel with the Welsh Conservatives, which will
strengthen ties between Wales and the Jewish State. The UK-Israel
relationship is stronger than ever, and Conservatives from all
levels of the Party are keen to further increase this bilateral
cooperation”.
AM, Shadow Secretary for
Education and Children:
“The Welsh Conservatives are very much looking forward to our
first ever delegation to Israel. I have visited the Holy Land on
a number of occasions and am excited to share the experience with
many of my fellow Conservative Assembly Members. It’s sure to be
a fascinating week of meetings exploring ways to further existing
political, cultural, economic and security ties with the Jewish
State”.
