Lords committee to report on alternatives to the European Arrest Warrant

The EU Home Affairs Sub-Committee will publish its report – Brexit: judicial oversight of the European Arrest Warrant on Thursday 27 July.

A copy of the report will be sent to you (hopefully in advance of publication, under embargo). 

The report examines how the UK might remain part of the European Arrest Warrant (EAW) from outside the EU and outside the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice; whether the EU would be willing to establish ‘bespoke’ extradition arrangements with the UK post-Brexit; and possible options for replacing the European Arrest Warrant if necessary.

Over the course of the inquiry the Committee heard from Mike Kennedy, former President of Eurojust and former Chief Operating Officer of the Crown Prosecution Service; Sir Francis Jacobs, former advocate general at the European Court of Justice; Professor Sir Alan Dashwood QC, Professor Emeritus of European Law at Cambridge University; and Aled Williams, former President of Eurojust. The Committee also heard from other legal experts.
