There are deep failures at the heart of the government’s management of the tagging programme over the past five years - Burgon

Richard Burgon MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Justice, responding to the National Audit Office’s report into tagging, said: 

"This is a damning report cataloguing major delays and missed targets.  There are deep failures at the heart of the government’s management of the tagging programme over the past five years. These are becoming all too common across the justice sector under the Tories. 

“It's worrying that this week the Ministry of Justice decided to award yet another tagging contract to G4S, despite an ongoing Serious Fraud Office probe into its past behaviour. With that decision, it looks like the government is burying its head in the sand and refusing to learn the lessons that are so obvious from this report.”
