Publication of report – Exiting the EU: challenges and opportunities for higher education

The Education Committee publishes its Ninth Report of Session 2016-17, Exiting the EU: challenges and opportunities (HC 683), at 00.01am on Tuesday 25 April 2017. The Committee’s inquiry explored the implications of the UK’s exit from the European Union for EU students and staff, and the impact on the reputations and competitiveness of English universities. The Committee also examined the effect of Brexit on EU research framework programmes, and the future of the Erasmus+ student exchange programme.

During the course of its inquiry the Committee held a number of evidence sessions outside Westminster, visiting universities across the country. The Committee heard from a number of university chancellors, university and research organisations, and students’ groups.
