Access to the European Union’s Internal Energy Market (IEM) and
the future energy relationship between the UK and EU post-Brexit
will be considered at a public session of the Business, Energy
and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee on Tuesday
21 March 2017 at 9.30am.
The Committee will ask how important access to the IEM and wider
relations with the EU on energy are for the longer term UK energy
system. It will also look at the parameters, priorities and
opportunities for a future relationship and concerns over
transitional arrangements.
Witnesses include senior representatives of the Institution of
Engineering and Technology, Renewable Energy Association and
Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs. The
Committee will also hear from Cambridge University’s Professor
Michael Pollitt, Assistant Director of the Energy Policy Research
Group.
The session is part of the Committee’s inquiry, Leaving
the EU: Negotiation prioritises for energy and climate
change, and can be watched live and on demand
