Brexit implications for trade with Gulf States, Human Rights records of trading partners and moving away from oil - Lords to question Liam Fox on the Middle East

The Committee’s questions will focus on the impact of Brexit on the UK’s trading relationships with Gulf States, the potential for stronger trading relationships with North African countries, the issue of trading partners’ human rights records, diversification away from oil, and how the UK can help facilitate increased trade between Middle East states. 

The evidence session will take place at 10:30am, on Wednesday 15 March in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster. 

As part of the same inquiry Jon B. Alterman, Director, Middle East Program, Center for Strategic and International Studies, will be giving evidence by video link at 2:30pm on Wednesday 15 March in Committee Room 2.

He will be questioned on the challenge facing international observers in trying to understand how the new US administration’s policies may evolve, how the UK and EU can influence US actions, the resurgent role of Russia in the Middle East, and the weakening of international institutions.
