New analysis of Progress 8 by the Education Policy Institute

Authored by Jon Andrews, Director for School System and Performance and Deputy Head of Research at the EPI, the paper finds evidence that Progress 8 is overall a positive step forward in assessing the performance of schools more fairly, but is not without its flaws.

The paper highlights how under the new system disadvantaged pupils are still significantly behind their peers – by over half a grade in over a third of schools – and how schools with high levels of disadvantage are more likely to be below the new floor standard.
