Lords to report on the failures of the UK's energy policy

The Committee examined whether successive government policies have correctly balanced the need for energy to be affordable, clean and secure. The core question for the Committee was what are the failures in the energy market and what measures are needed to correct them?  

During the course of its inquiry the Committee heard evidence from a range of witnesses including Greg Clark MP, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Lord Lawson.

The Committee also heard from the energy generators, including the CEO of EDF energy, leading academics and commentators. The Committee received and considered nearly 100 written submissions.
