Andy McDonald (Middlesbrough) (Lab):...The key for the industry is
uniformity; a patchwork of different plans would be troublesome.
Given the size and weight of heavy goods vehicles, the technology
is far more problematic for such vehicles, but their impact is
huge—they contribute between 20% and 30% of emissions. The Minister
will know the importance of the Automotive Council, introduced
by the previous Labour Government to get things moving. Hopefully
