Nine Welsh games companies are set to take on a side quest when
they exhibit at Tokyo Game Show as part of Creative Wales' first
visit to the global showcase.
Joining the Creative Wales team on the Cymru Wales exhibition
stand, the nine Welsh companies will be making new connections,
meeting industry leaders and increasing Wales' international
visibility as a nation of talented creatives.
Now in its 30th year, Tokyo Game Show is one of the
world's largest industry events, with global giants like
Nintendo, Microsoft, Sega, Konami and EA all regular attendees.
The video games sector is a priority for Creative Wales, which
has invested more than £5.7 million in over 100 games businesses
since 2020.
Among the Welsh games companies attending Tokyo Game Show is
Worldviper Studios, an indie game studio based in Cardiff. It was
founded on the back of a successful game called 'Warsim: The
Realm of Aslona', which enjoyed cult classic status in its genre.
Worldviper Studios is now focused on the development of its
flagship game Slumbox, a cyberpunk life simulation.
Huw Millward, Worldviper Studios CEO, said:

looked up to the Japanese gaming industry growing up, so we're

The Creative Wales-led visit to Tokyo Game Show is taking place
alongside a Welsh Government-led trade mission aimed at
strengthening economic ties and creating new export opportunities
in Japan, where Welsh goods exports totalled approximately £280
million in 2025.
The Export Market delegation includes 16 businesses from a range
of sectors and the programme includes a reception at the British
Embassy in Tokyo, hosted by the British Ambassador to Japan,
among a host of other activities.
Cabinet Minister for Enterprise, Connectivity and Energy, , said:
Japan is one of Wales' most important international partners,
with strong and growing links in trade, investment and culture.
This trade mission provides a valuable opportunity to strengthen
those relationships, showcase Welsh expertise and create new
opportunities for businesses to grow their exports in this key
market.
The visit to Tokyo Game Show is a first for Creative Wales, with
the companies attending alongside them representing some of our
finest game development studios. This is a significant
opportunity for them all to showcase their current projects,
achievements and demonstrate their potential for global success.
