MS, Cabinet Minister for
Health and Care: The oversight and escalation
framework published in July 2025, by the previous Government,
enables NHS organisations to be automatically de-escalated when
they meet certain thresholds, and there is confidence there are
robust plans in place to maintain this improvement.
I can confirm Swansea Bay University Health Board are today being
de-escalated to level 1 for performance and outcomes related to
Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). Their
performance has improved and been maintained over the past three
months, in line with the de-escalation criteria they were set.
The health board remains in level 4 escalation for finance,
strategy and planning; maternity and neonatal services and
performance and outcomes related to cancer, hospital acquired
infections and urgent and emergency care. They are also in level
3 for planned care.
I would like to thank the organisation and their clinical teams
for their increased focus on improving timely access and mental
health care for children and young people.
