PM to take on issues that have been ignored for too long as he continues his summer tour

Prime Minister Andy Burnham is set to begin week-two of his summer tour, designed to connect with people across the UK and hear about the issues they care about most.

The Prime Minister is expected to focus next week on some of the issues that he believes have been ignored for too long deemed by Westminster to be too hard to tackle.

This includes ending rough sleeping and resolving the toxic dump scandal that's blighting communities. He'll also be in Number 10 North during the week, marking a month since it was established. 

In the last week alone, the Prime Minister has visited Derbyshire, the West Midlands, Devon, and Cornwall to hear from local people and businesses as he seeks to inform his 10-year plan to improve the lives of people in the UK no matter where they live.

The visits came last week alongside a raft of new measures supporting the Prime Minister's promise to bring back hope and provide room to breathe, such as a series of everyday fixes' to help people with the cost of living.

The first two everyday fixes announced last week were: easy to exit rules to help consumers beat subscription traps and prevent them losing more money, and action to tackle misleading discounts and rip off prices that fleece customers.

The Prime Minister also announced new powers to crack down on vape stores, betting shops and rogue businesses to give local communities a real say in how their local high streets should look.

The Prime Minister has also been driving efforts to help people deal with extreme heat across the UK by announcing immediate support for farmers to help manage drought pressures and protect crops, visiting families affected by fires in the West Midlands, and chairing a COBR meeting to accelerate government-wide efforts to tackle the issue.

The Prime Minister wants to bring back hope that we can finally fix the difficult issues facing the country that have been ignored by Westminster for too long.

"This includes taking on issues that others have said are intractable, like ending rough sleeping and resolving the toxic dump, fly-tipping and environmental vandalism scandal that is blighting communities across the UK.

The coming week will see the Prime Minister take on some of these issues as he continues his tour around the UK, which will inform his upcoming 10-year plan to make Britain better off.
