New towns programme: why have successive Governments have struggled to deliver megaprojects on time and to budget?

At 10:45am on Tuesday 14 July, the House of Lords Built Environment Committee will hear evidence from:

• Dr Alexander Budzier, Saïd Business School, University of Oxford,
• Professor Juliano Denicol, Professor of Megaproject Management, University College London.

This evidence session is for the third and final module of the committee's inquiry into new towns and expanded settlements.

The session is open to the public and will be held in Committee Room 1 of the House of Lords and streamed live on Parliament TV.  

Topics likely to be covered in this session include:

• What a successful delivery of the new towns programme would look like.
• What mistakes the Government has made so far in the announcement, planning, and early delivery of the new towns programme.
• Whether this country is capable of delivering the new towns programme in a reasonable time and to a reasonable budget.
• How the Government can ensure that industry commitment, political will and public support persist for new towns across multiple electoral cycles.
