Lords defence industry inquiry hears from Strategic Defence Review authors

The House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee continues its inquiry into the relationship between the Government and the defence industry on Tuesday 14 July 2026 by hearing from co-authors of the 2025 Strategic Defence Review (SDR), Lord Robertson of Port Ellen and General Sir Richard Barrons.

  
The session will begin at 11am and can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster

Members are expected to ask questions on:

• progress since the publication of the SDR;
• changes to procurement processes and contracts;
• the implications of the Defence Investment Plan (DIP);
• culture change required within the Ministry of Defence (MoD);
• cooperation between industry, Government and the Forces;
• support needed by UK-based supply chains to increase capacity if required;
• how the Ministry of Defence can support and promote innovation and growth;
• how the proposed Defence Exports Office would drive exports to allies and domestic growth.
