Today [Tuesday 7th June 2026], will give a major speech on
defence in London.
In her speech, is expected to
say:
Today heads off to the most
important NATO summit in a generation.
Britain has received intelligence that Russia could launch at
attack on NATO as soon as 2030.
This development would put Britain in direct conflict with the
world's biggest nuclear armed state.
We could not be facing a more serious situation.
This is a critical moment in our national history, and our
politics should be reflecting the gravity of the situation.
Every single party in Westminster should be talking about British
national security.
But instead, we have the complete opposite.
Just at a time when Britain needs seriousness, Westminster has
never been more of a pantomime.
We are sending an outgoing Prime Minister who is now completely
powerless to that NATO summit.
And he is taking with him a Defence Investment Plan which he
knows is not fit for purpose.
With barely half of the additional funding that our armed
forces need.
So little that the former Defence Secretary quit the
government because he thought the plans would put British troops
in danger.
We're just supposed to just pretend that didn't happen.
Then it transpired, that the small amount of money that had been
found wasn't even fully funded.
has left a £5 billion black
hole for his successor, and apparently, we're supposed to pretend
that isn't happening either.
Labour haven't realised that the problems with that Defence
Investment Plan have not gone away just because Andy is riding to the rescue.
Yet Burnham doesn't appear to have said anything about the
threats we face.
Does he not care that on Sunday a Russian jet was intercepted by
the RAF dropping sonar devices onto British aircraft carrier?
Or that our undersea cables are already under constant attack and
a Russian assault on them could knock out internet across the
country?
Defence of this country should be Andy Burnham's number one
priority.
In fact, he says he says he wants to spend less time on
foreign affairs.
Meanwhile Reform are demanding a general election.
But they think that immigration is only national security issue
worth worrying about.
They blamed NATO for Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
They haven't even bothered to appoint a Foreign or Defence
spokesman.
Their former Welsh leader is in jail for taking bribes from
Russia.
They are completely distracted by their constant scandals.
I don't think Vladimir Putin is going to be worried about , and I don't think he's going
to be worried about .
Putin doesn't care how nationalised your buses are, and they
don't care whether No10 is in Manchester or London.
All he cares about is whether Britain is able to defend herself
or not.
The Conservatives have a plan. We will cut welfare and fund
defence.
We are the only ones showing any commonsense.
We are the only party that the country can unite around.
