Mayor
has approved the donation of two decommissioned
fire engines from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue
Service to support Ukraine.
The initiative is being coordinated through the charity
FIRE AID, which acts as a humanitarian network,
supporting fire and rescue
services worldwide. Since the start
of the Russian invasion in 2022,
FIRE AID and its partners
have facilitated the donation
of over 100 fire and rescue vehicles to
Ukraine.
Although the two fire engines have reached the end
of their operational life within the Fire and Rescue
Service, they remain fully functional and will provide
valuable support to Ukrainian firefighters and
communities.
The two fire engines will be transported to Ukraine via Poland,
with the journey supported by volunteer drivers from North
Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
This donation from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service
follows previous contributions of breathing
apparatus equipment in 2025 and a further
fire engine provided in 2023.

make a difference for those who need it."

The donation of these fire engines means equipment no longer
in use here can make a real difference on the frontline of the
war in Ukraine.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service continues to support the
UK's vital efforts to help save lives and protect
communities.
