The team behind the iconic Belsonic and Custom House Square
concerts in Belfast have shown support for the Share the Road to
Zero campaign aimed at reducing road deaths.
The Belsonic team are backing the Department for Infrastructure's
Share the Road to Zero' initiative which encourages all road
users to think of safety first when travelling.
Thousands of music fans are set to descend upon Belfast to attend
the Belsonic and Summer Series Custom House Square concerts this
summer.
Infrastructure Minister said: It is great to see the
organisers of these popular events getting on board and backing
Share the Road to Zero.
We know there will be thousands of music fans and families
travelling from right across the North to attend one of the many
concerts in Belfast this summer. That is a lot of people on the
road travelling back and forth and it is vitally important that
we all play our part to ensure that everyone arrives at their
destination safely.
One of the best ways to do this, and to fulfil our long-term goal
of eliminating death and serious injury by 2050, is by changing
road user behaviour.
Sadly too many people are killed and seriously injured on our
roads every year and more than 95% of road deaths are due to
human error.
We all have a personal responsibility to behave in a way that
keeps ourselves and others safe and my Department's Share the
Road to Zero campaign reminds us of that.
We can all make a difference and help save lives by taking more
care when using the roads.
After signing up to Share the Road to Zero', Director Joe Dougan
explained why the team are keen to support the innovative
campaign.
He said: Customer safety is of paramount importance at our
events, and we're delighted to lend support to this proactive
safeguarding campaign.
The Northern Ireland Football League, Ulster GAA, PSNI, Northern
Ireland Ambulance Service, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue
Service, Sustrans NI and councils have also backed the campaign.
