Lords Committee holds evidence sessions with the Chief of the Defence Staff and National Armaments Director as it begins inquiry into the implementation of the Strategic Defence Review

This week, the House of Lords International Relations and Defence Committee will hold two evidence sessions as part of its inquiry into the implementation of the Strategic Defence Review recommendations.

The first session will take place tomorrow, Tuesday 16 June and will start at 11.00am. The session will be available to watch live or on demand at Parliament TV or attend in person in Committee Room 4A Palace of Westminster.

The Committee will hear from Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton, Chief of the Defence Staff.

The second session will take place on Wednesday 17 June at 10.30am. This session will also be available to watch on Parliament TV and will take place in Committee Room 2.

Giving evidence will be:

• Rupert Pearce, UK National Armaments Director; and
• Lt Gen Anna-Lee Reilly, Core Delivery, Defence Equipment and Support, Ministry of Defence.

Topics to be covered across both sessions will include:

• Defence spending and the Defence Investment Plan
• How the implementation of recommendations made in the Strategic Defence Review (SDR) is being monitored and assessed
• Progress in developing an Integrated Force Model and learning lessons from Ukraine
• Working with allies and NATO
• Joint capability programmes
• Cultural change in UK Defence
