From 10:15 on Tuesday 16 June the House of Lords Science and
Technology Committee will continue its inquiry into
innovation in the NHS, with a particular focus on personalised
medicine and the use of artificial intelligence.
Over two sessions the Committee will explore the challenge of
integrating innovations into clinical practice in the NHS. In the
first panel, the Committee will hear from the presidents of the
Royal College of Radiologists and the Royal College of
Pathologists about the structural changes needed within the NHS
to help their members fully benefit from technologies such as AI
and personalised genomic medicine.
The Committee will then hear from the Health Innovation Network,
the NHS's innovation arm, about its efforts to generate and
spread evidence-based innovations and the practical challenges of
bringing new technologies into the NHS. It will also hear from
the King's Fund, an independent think tank, on policy issues
related to NHS innovation, digital technologies, and health data.
