Monday 15 June 2026,
16.00, Grimond Room, House of Commons
On Monday, the Environmental Audit Committee will quiz Climate
Minister on the
government's plans for the Seventh Carbon Budget (CB7).
Carbon Budgets set a legally binding cap on the maximum level of
carbon the UK can emit over a set period. CB7 covers the years
2038-2042.
The Committee recently published the government's response to its
report on the latest Carbon Budget, which offered MPs a
greater opportunity to debate the Budget. In the response, the
government also said it recognised the importance of reducing
electricity costs and the need to take people with us on
decarbonisation.
MPs will quiz the Minister on the government's plans to deliver
CB7, including when it will publish its Delivery Plan and what
risks it is likely to face delivering the next stage of the net
zero transition.
Committee members are also likely to question the government on
its efforts towards securing behaviour change, lowering
electricity costs and supporting local authorities to deliver
CB7.
