Lady Chief Justice annual evidence session

The House of Lords Constitution Committee will tomorrow be holding its annual evidence session with the Lady Chief Justice, Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill. 

Topics the committee will consider include: 

• Steps being taken to tackle backlogs in the courts,  and the key obstacles to further reducing backlogs; 

• Recent legislation that will have an impact on the courts; 

• Judicial recruitment for recent and upcoming vacancies in the senior judiciary, as well as priorities for the new leadership team once in place; 

• Relations between the judiciary, Government and Parliament; 

• Communication with the public about the courts and their judgments; 

• Judges' working lives, including security threats faced by judges and concerns about stress and bullying.  

The session will take place on Wednesday 10 June at 10:30am and can be followed live on Parliament TV.
