Reform UK Leader Nigel Farage has called for urgent action
following the release of police bodycam footage relating to the
death of 18-year-old Henry Nowak.
Mr Farage said the case has exposed serious questions about
policing standards, accountability and public confidence in the
criminal justice system.
He called for two immediate actions:
- A rapid and comprehensive investigation by the Independent
Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), with a report published as soon
as possible.
- A review by the Attorney General of the sentence handed down
to Henry's killer, which Mr Farage argues falls below the
seriousness of the offence.
Reform UK Leader Nigel Farage MP said:
“Henry Nowak's family have shown extraordinary dignity in the
face of an unimaginable tragedy. But I suggest the rest of us
respond to this with pure cold rage.
“The public must have confidence that everyone is treated equally
before the law, regardless of their background. The IOPC must
establish the facts quickly, the Attorney General should review
the sentence, and government and police leaders must confront the
wider cultural problems that this case has brought into sharp
focus.
“This is serious. This is urgent. I fear for where our society
would be in a few short years if we don't grasp this and do it
very, very quickly.”
