Bank of England Governor to face Economic Affairs Committee questions

At 3pm on Tuesday 2 June the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee will hold its annual evidence session with Andrew Bailey, Governor of the Bank of England.  

This evidence session, which is open to the public, will be held in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords. It will also be streamed live and on demand on Parliament TV.

Topics the committee is likely to cover in this session include:

• The UK's economic outlook.
• Expected trade-offs against which monetary policy will be set in a stagflationary context.
• Whether financial stability and price stability should be regarded as separate areas for consideration.
• The best way, in terms of a monetary policy perspective, that the Government could implement a new energy support package.
• How regional fiscal autonomy could impact the implementation of monetary policy.
• The impact on the economy of the recent sharp fall in net immigration.
• The Bank's view on it continuing to pay interest on commercial banks' reserves.
