On Wednesday 20 May, the Environmental Audit Committee continues
its inquiry into Air Pollution in England with an evidence
session exploring how local authorities are tackling air
pollution.
In the first panel, MPs will hear from experts on the science and
modelling behind air quality monitoring. They will consider how
this monitoring fits within England's planning rules and whether
the planning system is able to improve air quality.
In the second panel, MPs will consider how local authorities
tackle air quality, including the successes and limitations of
initiatives such as low emissions zones or school streets. They
will also explore whether local authorities have the finances or
engagement with central government they need to deal with air
pollution.
