Access to justice: MPs to question the Legal Services Board and Solicitors Regulation Authority

The Justice Committee will question senior representatives from the Legal Services Board (LSB) and Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)during the fourth evidence session of its inquiry on Access to Justice.

MPs on the cross-party committee, chaired by Labour MP Andy Slaughter, will explore the regulatory objective to improve access to justice, the role of regulation in supporting access to justice and the response of the SRA to recent regulatory failures.

Discussion is also likely to focus on how to improve the service provided to consumers of legal services, and the ongoing public bodies review of the LSB.

This inquiry considers how the provision of legal advice and representation has developed in response to the restrictions on the provision of legal aid. It focuses on the scope for future innovation in the nature of services, funding, regulation and technology to support effective access to justice in England and Wales.
