Reform UK's Education, Skills and Equalities spokesman KC MP has blasted the
Football Association's diversity targets as “utter woke nonsense”
and called for them to be scrapped.
In a letter to FA chief executive Mark Bullingham, Mrs Braverman
says the FA's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy
2024–2028, which demands that 25% of men's coaching staff come
from “Black, Asian, Mixed or other ethnic backgrounds” by 2028 —
is “fundamentally flawed, inherently racist and bad for the
game".
writes:
“The FA has led the fight to kick racism out of football, a
mission I utterly support. There is no place for discrimination
of any kind in our national game. Yet your DEI strategy does
precisely that, it divides rather than unites. It replaces merit
with quotas and implements identity politics where teamwork,
ability and hard graft should prevail.”
Mrs Braverman has requested a meeting with Mr Bullingham and
urged the FA to replace its DEI policies with a simple new
principle entitled “The Best Person for the Job.”
said:
“Fans don't care about quotas; they care about winning. Football
should be about hard work, talent and passion, not politics. The
FA needs to ditch the ideology and get back to what matters:
merit and pride in our national game.”
