The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will hear from the civil
service pension scheme administrator, Capita, on the progress it
has made in addressing recent failures on Thursday,
26thMarch at 10.00am.
Appearing before the Committee in February of this year, Capita
warned that it had inherited a backlog of 86,000 cases, 20
million lines of corrupt data, and 16,000 unread emails which
likely contained the details of people who were due to receive a
payment.
In the same month, a letter from the Permanent Secretary at the
Cabinet Office, Cat Little, confirmed that approximately 8,500
people who had already retired had not yet received their full
pension entitlements.
The PAC is likely to use this session to examine how Capita is
working to reduce the backlog of claimants and question the
progress it is making towards meeting the targets it set out
during recent appearances before the Committee.
Questions could focus on the management of the hardship loans
scheme and Capita's relationship with the Cabinet Office. MPs may
also consider if Capita is taking adequate steps to ensure
customers are receiving the levels of service and financial
support that they need.
