Lords waste crime inquiry hears from Environment Agency CEO

The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee revisits it waste crime inquiry on Wednesday 25 Marchby hearing from Philip Duffy, Chief Executive, Environment Agency.

The session will take place from 10am. It can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in the Palace of Westminster (committee room 4).

Questions from the committee will cover:

• the number of large active illegal waste crime sites;
  
  
• how the Environment Agency secures the clearance and remediation of illegal waste sites;
• where the waste at large-scale illegal waste sites come from and what measures are in place to prevent its transportation;

• how the recently announced National Police Service will affect efforts to tackle serious and organised waste crime in collaboration with policing;
  
  
• measures and impacts to deter criminals;
  
  
• progress made towards implementing the waste crime levy;
  
  
• challenges the Environment Agency faces when trying to obtain restriction orders.

Also giving evidence will be Malcolm Lythgo, Director for Environmental Markets and Enforcement, Environment Agency.
