Mastercard and Circle to give evidence to Lords stablecoin inquiry

At 10am on Wednesday 18 March the House of Lords Financial Services Regulation Committee will hear evidence from:

• Dante Disparte, Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Global Policy and International Operations at Circle.

At 11.00am, the committee will hear from:

• Jesse McWaters, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Policy at Mastercard.

Both witnesses will be giving evidence to the committee's inquiry on the growth and proposed regulation of stablecoins in the UK.

This evidence session, which is open to the public, will be held in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords and streamed live and on demand on Parliament TV.

Topics the committee is likely to cover in this session include:

• The market potential for GBP stablecoins.
• Why the USD stablecoin market has developed so quickly compared to other countries.
• How the UK's proposed regulatory regime compares to the US and EU regimes.
• Whether the Bank of England's proposed regulations achieve a balance between mitigating risk and allowing stablecoin issuers to be commercially viable.
• Witnesses' views on the FCA's proposals for a prudential regime for stablecoins issuers.
