MPs to hold a pre-appointment hearing for the preferred candidate for Chair of the Office for Legal Complaints

The Justice Committee will hold a pre-appointment hearing for Richard Blakeway, the preferred candidate for Chair of the Office for Legal Complaints (OLC).

This role is subject to pre-appointment scrutiny by the cross-party committee of MPs before any appointment by Ministers.

The session will explore the candidate's knowledge, experience and skills, and how he would apply these to the role of Chair of the Office for Legal Complaints, and also ascertain the Committee's view as to the suitability of the candidate for the role. 

The Chair leads the OLC Board in administering the Legal Ombudsman (LeO) scheme for complaints about legal service in England and Wales.
