London has been impacted by a recent outbreak of measles cases,
largely affecting unvaccinated children in
North London.
More than 100 confirmed measles cases have been recorded in
London since the start of 2026, with the majority affecting
unvaccinated children in North London. Figures from the UK Health
Security Agency show 104 confirmed cases in the capital,
including 59 in Enfield alone as one of the areas with the lowest
vaccination uptake in the country. Cases are also spreading to
neighbouring Haringey.
The London Assembly Health Committee will
hold an emergency meeting on Monday, to examine the impact of the
outbreak, how authorities are working to contain the spread, and
what more can be done to increase vaccination rates and protect
Londoners.
