Access to justice: MPs to examine the legal services market, regulation and litigation funding

The Justice Committee will hear evidence from academics and experts on the legal services market, regulation and litigation funding, during the third session of its inquiry on Access to Justice.

MPs on the cross-party committee, chaired by Labour MP Andy Slaughter, will examine how consumers experience the legal services market and will explore the current regulatory framework. Discussion will also focus on the issue of consumer protection and proposed funding reforms. The second panel will explore litigation funding, regulation and enhancing access to justice.

This inquiry considers how the provision of legal advice and representation has developed in response to the restrictions on the provision of legal aid. It focuses on the scope for future innovation in the nature of services, funding, regulation and technology to support effective access to justice in England and Wales.
