In his first major speech as Reform UK's Shadow Home Secretary, Zia Yusuf will propose a radical overhaul of Britain's immigration, policing, and national security frameworks. Framing the current state of UK borders as a "national security emergency" and an "invasion," the speech sharply attacks both Conservative and Labour records. It promises sweeping legislative changes, including an exit from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), mass deportations, and a zero-tolerance approach to knife-crime and Islamist extremism. He will say: "For decades, the Tories and Labour have turned the other way while the very fabric of our society has been under assault. The social contract has not merely been broken; it's been shattered. Under a Reform government, His Majesty's Parliament will be sovereign once again. We will secure our borders, leave the ECHR, and deport those here illegally. My message to the British people is simple: I will secure our borders and make you feel safe." 1. Stopping the invasion and mass deportations Yusuf will say: “We will pass the Illegal Migration Mass Deportation Act and launch Operation Restoring Justice. We will leave the ECHR, rapidly build detention capacity for 24,000 illegal migrants and ramp deportation flights to 5 per day. A new agency, UK Deportation Command, will focus solely on identifying, detaining and deporting illegal migrants.” The speech outlines Reform's plan to remove illegal migrants:
2. Averting the "Boriswave" fiscal disaster Yusuf will say: “Boris threw open our borders and imported a staggering 3.4 million migrants in 3 years, the vast majority came on non work visas. They will shortly be granted ILR, which means they gain lifetime access to our welfare state. A lifetime of living off the British taxpayer. This will cost hundreds of billions of pounds. That's why the Boriswave must be averted. A Reform government will terminate all welfare payments to foreign nationals." Targeting the Conservative party's record on legal migration, Yusuf warns of a looming fiscal disaster caused by the “Boriswave”.
3. Getting the knives off our streets and focusing police on arresting criminals Yusuf will say: “Under Reform, our brave police officers will be freed up to spend their time detecting crime, investigating crime, and arresting criminals. No more dancing on social media. No more painting police cars with pride or trans flags. No more policing legal speech on the internet. No more DEI coordinators draining budgets. We will also get the knives off our streets by giving the police vastly expanded powers of Stop and Search.” The speech promises a return to "hard results" and a rejection of modern progressive policing initiatives.
4. Targeting Extremism and Preserving British Culture Yusuf will say: "I will take a zero -tolerance approach to Islamist extremism. I will overhaul PREVENT to ensure it focuses on real threats not social work, and immediately proscribe the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization. We will protect British culture, because a nation without a culture is not a nation at all. It is just an economic zone. We will preserve Britain's Christian heritage and end the incendiary practice of converting churches into mosques or any other place of worship." Yusuf will take a hardline stance on domestic terror threats and cultural preservation.
