Lords inquiry on regulation and growth hears from Lord Willetts

The House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee continues its inquiry into the relationship between regulators and economic growth by hearing from Lord Willetts, Chair of the Regulatory Innovation Office.

The session will begin at 10.30am on Tuesday 10 February 2026 and can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster.

Members are expected to ask questions on:

• the work of the Regulatory Innovation Office (RIO) to make regulation more open to innovation and less risk averse;

• available levers to influence regulators and the Government to support economic growth;
  
  
• what regulators need to promote innovation and growth including additional funding required from RIO;
  
  
• supporting regulators to become more risk averse;

• key actions the Government and regulators need to take forward to support innovation and growth;

• How RIO intends to take its work forward.
