The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee
continues its inquiry into drought preparedness in England by
exploring implications for energy, industry and data centres as
well as local responses to drought and opportunities to increase
resilience.
The session will take place on Wednesday 14
January from 10am. It can be followed
live or afterwards on Parliament TVor in person in
the Palace of Westminster (committee
room 4).
Giving evidence at 10am will be:
Head of Data Centres Programme, techUK;
- Steven Campbell-Ferguson,
Global Product Design Lead, NTT Data Centres;
Veolia UK's Chief Operating Officer for Industrial, Water and
Energy.
Questions from the committee will cover the following
areas:
- the risks of drought and how they are being mitigated;
- water availability for data centres;
- the price of water;
- water reuse technologies;
- sharing of water consumption data.
Giving evidence at 10:45am will be:
- Matthew Robinson,
Head of Resilience and Emergencies, North Yorkshire
Council;
- Doug Hill,
Assistant Director for Place, Commissioning and Engagement,
Surrey County Council;
- Dr Adam Comerford,
National Hydrology Manager, Canal and River Trust.
Questions from the committee will cover the following
areas:
- preparing and responding to future drought risk;
- engagement with the Environment Agency and water companies;
- increasing local resilience to drought;
- integrating flood and drought management.
