National autism charities to discuss inquiry findings with Autism Act 2009 Committee

On Monday, the House of Lords Autism Act 2009 Committee will be holding a follow-up evidence session with national autism charities on the emerging findings of the Committee's inquiry. This will be the final evidence session of the inquiry.  

The session will take place at 2:45pm on Monday 7 July and can be followed live on parliamentlive.tv 

Giving evidence will be: 

• Tim Nicholls, Assistant Director of Policy, Research and Strategy, National Autistic Society 

• Adam Micklethwaite, Director, Autism Alliance  

• Dr James Cusack, CEO, Autistica  

• Jolanta Lasota, CEO, Ambitious About Autism and Chair, Autism Alliance 

Topics the committee is likely to cover include: 

• Response to the evidence that the Committee has heard in its inquiry 

• What the Government should prioritise in its new autism strategy 

• The most effective levers to strengthen responsibility and accountability for improving outcomes for autistic people 

• What needs to change in a new Government autism strategy and in the design of public services to ensure all autistic people receive the right kind and level of support, whether or not they have a diagnosis 

• What changes in the population of autistic people, their needs, and research and practice in effective ways to support autistic people might we see in the next fifteen years
