The House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee continues
its inquiry into the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) by hearing
from campaigners and fire authorities.
The session will run from 10am on
Tuesday 1 July and can be followed live or
afterwards on Parliament
TV or in person in Committee Room 1, Palace
of Westminster.
Giving evidence at 10am will be:
Co-Lead, End Our Cladding Scandal;
Trustee, Leasehold Knowledge Partnership.
At 11am, the Committee will hear from:
- Pamela Oparaocha,
Assistant Commissioner for Fire Safety, London Fire
Brigade.
Members are expected to ask questions on:
- the impact of the BSR's regulatory framework on the delivery
of new homes and the maintenance and improvement of existing
high-rise buildings;
- the impact of the BSR's Residents' Panel;
- clarity and guidance provided by the BSR;
- BSR resources and if it has access to the skilled staff
necessary to carry out multidisciplinary assessments of
safety;
- comparisons between the BSR's regulatory framework and
building safety in other countries;
- how the relationship has developed between Fire and Rescue
Services and the BSR;
- how the BSR cooperates with the Office for Product and Safety
Standards.
