Speaker welcomes President Zelenskyy and reiterates Parliament's support

The Speaker of the House of Commons welcomed Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Parliament this afternoon. 

The President requested a meeting with Sir Lindsay Hoyle and the Lord Speaker, Lord McFall, to provide ‘an update' on the situation on the ground in Ukraine. 

Mr Speaker told the President that the UK Parliament's support for Ukraine continued to be ‘unwavering'. 

Sir Lindsay thanked President Zelenskyy for the attendance of Ukraine's Defence Minister Rustem Umerov at the Commons' Armed Forces Day flag-raising event earlier on Monday. 

The meeting in Speaker's House came three months after Sir Lindsay travelled to Ukraine to join counterparts from across Europe to commemorate the third anniversary of the Bucha massacre – one of the gravest atrocities on the people of Ukraine since Russia's invasion in 2022.
