Tuesday 17 June and
Wednesday 25 June
Today, the Treasury Select Committee announces the evidence
sessions which will be held to scrutinise the 2025 Spending
Review.
In the first session, held in the Wilson Room on the morning of
Tuesday 17 June, the Committee will hear from leading experts on
public spending. The panel will be made up of senior staff at the
Institute for Fiscal Studies, the London Business School and the
Institute for Government.
The following week, on the morning of Wednesday 25 June, the
Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Rt Hon. MP, will be questioned on the
decisions taken by his department on both day-to-day departmental
spending and capital spending.
The Committee's scrutiny is likely to cover a range of areas
including the trade-offs between cutting spending in certain
departments and investing in others. The process followed by HM
Treasury and the potential impacts of Ministers' decisions on
services are also likely to be probed.
