The House of Lords Social Mobility Policy Committee continues its
inquiry on Thursday 5 June by hearing from
schools, colleges, local government and job centres about their
role and experiences in promoting social mobility.
The session begins at 10.05am in Committee Room 3, Palace of
Westminster and can be followed live or afterwards on
Parliament TV.
Giving evidence from 10.05am will be:

Giving evidence from 11am will be:

Director of Children and Learning, Camden Council;
- Helene Dearn,
Interim Executive Director for Skills, Health &
Communities, The West Midlands Combined Authorities.
Members are expected to ask questions on:
- barriers to promoting opportunities for those from lower
socio-economic backgrounds;
- social mobility rates across different regions and the role
of local partnerships in addressing them;
- targeting those not in education, employment or training;
- supporting young people who are care experienced to gain
access to education, training and work opportunities;
- the role of central government in reducing barriers to
opportunity and promoting social mobility.
