Peers to hear from Investors and Capital Markets Experts on financing and scaling UK science and technology companies

On Tuesday 3 June the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee will continue its inquiry into Financing and Scaling UK Science and Technology: Innovation, Investment, Industry hearing from investors and capital markets experts.   

The committee will hear from:   

10:15am  

• Saul Klein OBE, co-founder and Managing Partner of Phoenix Court and member of the Prime Minister's Council on Science and Technology 

• Sir Jonathan Symonds, Chair, GSK, member of the Capital Markets Industry Taskforce   

11.15am 

• Ian Merricks, VenturePath 

• Irene Graham OBE (CEO, ScaleUp Institute)  

Committee members will ask questions on the following:  

• The current situation in the UK for financing and scaling UK science and technology companies 

• Recommendations for tackling the issue of access to scale-up finance 

• Mansion House reforms, institutional investors, and pension funds 

• The role of the National Wealth Fund and British Business Bank in providing scale-up finance for promising science and technology companies 

• Initiatives the Government should pursue to reform capital markets so that they can better provide scale-up capital
