Notes to editors:
- The Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste)
Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007 aim to minimise the impact of
packaging waste on the environment by reducing the amount going
to landfill. The regulations were designed to ensure that
industry takes full responsibility for packaging waste produced
as a result of their commercial activities. Under the
regulations, the requirement to purchase Packaging Waste Recovery
Notes demonstrates the redirection of packaging waste from
landfill contributing to a greener, cleaner environment.
