Scottish Government: Children's Minister comment on Safer Internet Day 2025

On Safer Internet Day, 11 February 2025, Children's Minister Natalie Don-Innes said:

“Safer Internet Day is an opportunity for us all to consider how being online can be a safer and more positive experience, and the Scottish Government has a wealth of resources for parents, teachers, children and young people.

“Parent Club has up-to-date material for parents and carers to help them guide young people to use the internet safely. We support Young Scot to deliver the AyeFeel online hub to support young people with their emotional wellbeing, and the Scottish Youth Parliament's Mind Yer Time website, helping children and young people navigate online spaces and use screen time in a healthy and positive way.

“In schools, Time for Inclusive Education recently launched resources to help teachers and learners recognise and address misinformation and hateful material online, and last week we launched the latest phase of our campaign with Police Scotland and Fearless Crimestoppers aimed at educating parents and carers about the risks of sextortion and what support is available for them should a young person in their care report an incident to them.”
