Conservatives call on Home Secretary to stop Jihadists returning to the UK

The Conservatives will call on the Government to stop jihadists and others who supported Daesh from returning to the UK after the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, previously opposed the decision by the former Conservative Government to strop Shamima Begum of her British citizenship.

Sir Keir Starmer and Yvette Cooper previously voted against the Nationality and Borders Act, which sped up the process to remove British Citizenship from terrorists.

In a letter to the Home Secretary, Chris Philp MP has called on the Labour Government to ‘ensure the safety of the British public', saying that:

“Daesh murdered and raped women and children and slaughtered those who opposed them.

“Supporters of Daesh have absolutely no place in the UK and I urge the Government to use the powers from the Nationality and Borders Act, despite yourself and Keir Starmer voting against the Act, to speed up the process of removing citizenship from dangerous individuals.

“We must ensure the safety of the British public, and our borders is prioritised.”
