Future of Roads Minister comments on new SMMT stats on EVs

Today, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has published new statistics which show that EVs made up 25.1% of all car sales in November and 18.7% for the year so far. This represents a 58.4% increase compared to November 2023. The stats are available here: UK new car registration data, UK car market - SMMT

Commenting on the SMMT stats, Minister for the Future of Roads, Lilian Greenwood said:

“Today's data shows one in four of every car sold in November was electric. This is fantastic progress and clearly shows our £2.3 billion support for industry is helping more and more people make the switch to EVs.

“There are now more than 71,000 public chargers in the UK, and we continue to work with the sector to make the transition a success, support jobs, and drive growth”.
