CCC response to UK Government 2035 NDC announcement

Professor Piers Forster, Interim Chair of the Climate Change Committee said:

"It is very welcome that the Government is showing climate leadership by setting an ambitious 2035 NDC. Our analysis shows that this is a feasible target that will support jobs and investment. It is informed by the latest science, technological developments, and the UK's national circumstances.

“A target is only as meaningful as the delivery against it. The UK needs to get back on track to deliver against our existing 2030 NDC commitment. We need to see further urgent action to speed up deployment of low-carbon solutions such as electric vehicles, heat pumps, and tree planting.”
